Warm Fuzzies Week #2
Thank you to everyone who participated in the first week of the Warm Fuzzies Blogfest. It’s been fabulous getting to know more of you blogger writers out there!
This week, we’ll cater to those of us who are completely possessive over our WIPs and donβt want to give anything too telling away. Instead of posting something intimate about our writing, post a picture or piece of music that describes your WIP.
What do you look to when you write? What inspires you? How else do you use your creativity? Music? Pictures? Art?
I go to nature when I need a shot of inspiration. My muse tends to hang out in state parks. But since I canβt transform my blog into a forest, Iβm going to post a picture that reminds me of my main character, Jacob- particularly his eyes.
Here is where the fun part comes in! Travel around and check out everyone’s post. In the comments section, make your best guess as to the theme of their WIP. The most creative guess will win one of these:
Lauren Schoener, better known as @CausticSoda on Twitter, has recently launched her awesome custom accessory line, known as CausticWear. Lauren offers quality, hand-made hats, scarves, shawls, and jewelry, suited to each customer’s style and color preferences. Her small business is already booming, so this may be your only chance to get one of these popular accessories for yourself! Whoever is drawn for this prize, will get a custom-made hat! (They’re amazing, I have one! :])
-This will be judged by someone (not me!) so don’t worry, I won’t play favorites. Although if I did, you all would end up winning. π
So, based on my picture, what do you think my WIP is about? And no cheating by heading over to my ‘books’ page π
The writerly-celebration prize for this week is a full blog makeover, valued at $100, by Janice Foy! Janice is an amazing young adult writer who loves to create unique, individual blogs in her spare time. She is offering a full blog makeover for one lucky winner. She will work one on one with the winner, over the course of a couple of weeks, to create the perfect blog for them.
Check out her website as well as her blog– I really canβt get over how gorgeous it is! You can also find her on Twitter @janicefoy
And again, doubly check out Saba’s site- she’s still giving away books to those who comment on her posts!
Please have all posts up by Friday 3p.m. (central time) and please use the linky-link below to connect directly to your Warm Fuzzies post.
Also, if you have posted on Twitter/Facebook/Google+ give yourself one point. If you blogged about the blogfest before it began, give yourself five lovely points. Write how many points you have at the bottom of your post and I will count that toward the prize for the week!
This is going to be so much fun. Thanks Juliana!
Hi Juliana,
I could post a piece of music (if I knew how) that inspires my YA book, but wouldn’t that be a breach of musical copyright?
JJ
Hmm, I’m not sure about that JJ. Off hand, I don’t think so, but I’ll try to find out.
Brick by Ben Folds Five. I’d put it on my blog…but it’s kinda full! Hehehe
I can’t wait to do this one even though I totally laid my logline and first 250 words out there today. I will have to post this one Wed. maybe:) I think yours has to be about wolves? I’m such a dork.
Is your WIP fantasy?
Are the hats made of acrylic yarn, on the off chance I win? I can’t use real wool.
I’m pretty sure she’ll make it with whatever type of yarn you’d like.
This is such a fun idea! Thanks Juliana! Is your WIP a spin-off of Narnia?
I think your WiP is about an evil mutated alien who comes to earth and finds himself trapped inside of a German Shepherd. The alien wants to escape the newly found emotions that tie him to his owner…a lovely and stunning beauty. What will Jacob do? Follow his instructions and destroy the Earth? Or go against his entire being and save the woman he loves?
Or something like that. π
Mines up:)
[…] back to the Warm Fuzzies Blogfest hosted by Juliana! Today’s blogfest is all about […]
Your WIP is inspired by my puppy?! That looks like a close-up of his eyes π
I think it’s about kangaroos. Or Pooza. Or Pooza Kangaroos.
Wait. Pooza Kangaroos that can box.
Ok, yes. That’s my guess.
Hahaha, I’m so loving this π
Juliana,
Thank you for stopping by. You are warm. I am putting a sneak peek on my blog Friday.
[…] in the Warm Fuzzies blogfest we have to show a picture or piece of music depicting our WIP. Well since I write poems and picture […]
I had fun doing this post!! I like your photo and if it’s not the obvious like he’s a wolf then maybe he’s the lone “wolf” type hero, which i think makes for a fun romance.:)
@Carrie-Anne
If you win, I will make the hat with whatever type of yarn you want!! And even any type of hat. Want a beanie, no problem! Ear flaps? Even better! Newsboy cap? Sure thing!!
The sky’s the limit on the hat choices, so if you win, bust out your thinking cap (don’t have one? I CAN MAKE ONE FOR YOU!)
OH MAN. I already read your blurb for this one so I can’t cheat! How ’bout I just make something up, then.
If I were really guessing, I’d guess that it’s about a shape-shifting dog who can see into the future. And what he sees is a world overrun by wicked, wicked coyotes. These vermin laugh like the Joker, steal everything they can get their grubby little paws on, and spend every night in drunken revelry. Can Jacob the Shape-Shifting Dog use his powers to prevent the Coyotes from taking over the world? Or will he get sucked into their influence and get stuck as a coyote himself?
@Jess Hi-larious! That actually sounds like a pretty good story π
I am very secretive about my WIP but it has been fun giving a teeny clue.
Your photo — hmmmm — Those amber eyes are so unusual, perhaps they hold the key to transfix and hypnotize their human prey?
Emma
[…] week, for the Warm Fuzzies Blogfest, we’re being asked to share pictures and/or music describing our WIPs. Ever since 1993, […]
My entire posting schedule got so messed up by our freak snowstorm I’m not sure if I’m going to manage Warm Fuzzies this week – but I’ll try! Great picture – love the eyes – but while everyone else seems to see dog eyes, I see lioness or bobcat eyes. I think your WIP is about a very intelligent being who can transform into a lioness when necessary – but I’m not sure what she’s up to π
[…] a bit about the music that is the inspiration for my NaNoWriMo novel. Coincidentally, the theme for Week 2 of the Warm Fuzzies blogfest is to share something that inspires our current WIPs, so I can kill two birds with one […]
I put up my inspiration…but don’t enter me in the contest, okay! I’m just here for the fun!! And I apologize, J, – last week I put up a link to my site thinking that was the comments…whoops. Okay, I’m festive now!
facebook + twitter = 2 points
It’s going to be so much fun trying to guess everyone’s WIP π
Ack! I totally forgot this was happening! Wanted to say that I love your website design! It’s so cute but also clean. LOVE it. π
Anyway, going to check out some of the participants.
I’m *still* trying to get my act together to participate in your wonderful blogfest. Next week!
I was stopping by, though, to let you know that I gave you an award over on my blog. If you’d like to participate, hop on over to read the rules!
I just realized I’ve spent so much time guessing everyone else’s WIP that I never got around to guessing yours.
I’m betting it’s not a werewolf story, but I can imagine an enchanted forest where all things are possible. Perhaps an evil curse transformed the MC into a dog, and he’s given the job of protecting the love of his life. Of course, she knows nothing about this. How does he let her know? And should he even try if there is no hope for him changing back to his old self?
By the way, thanks for all the Warm, Fuzzy ideas. They’re fun and I’m meeting all sorts of new people.
